1) The Nativity Play recreates the scene of Jesus’ birth in the stable and tells of how Mary and Joseph were visited by the Shepherds and Wise Men. The parts of Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds and the Wise Men are played by the children.

2) Caroling is one of the oldest customs in Britain, going back to the Middle Ages when Beggars, seeking food money, or drink, would the streets singing holiday songs. Over the years, referring only to certain kinds of songs, the word carol became known as Christmas songs.

3) In pantomimes the male roles are often played by women and female roles by men.

4) Mince pies are an essential part of Christmas. A mince pie is a traditional festive British sweet pastry, usually consumed during the Chistmas and New York period.
